What Is Taekwondo?
The English translation of Taekwondo is "the way of the hand and foot" which is a fitting characterization. It is a Korean martial art that focuses on more than just physical fighting, but also emphasizes discipline and enhancing the spirit, mind, and body in all areas of life. Taekwondo is one of the oldest forms of martial arts, dating back over 2,000 years. Our Taekwondo classes incorporate learning traditional forms, building flexibility, sparring, and even some board breaking.
What You Need To Know
Taekwondo is a much more structured program than many other martial arts. Class begins with all students lining up in order by belt rank. The tenets of Taekwondo are recited and warm up exercises/stretches are done while counting in Korean.
TestingBelt testing requires demonstration of the necessary skills for each belt rank in order to progress. Testing involves answering questions, doing forms, sparring, and even board breaks based on level.
