What is Kickboxing?

Kickboxing is an ideal workout for many because it's a great combination of a cardio workout and muscle strengthening.  Muay Thai Kickboxing makes use of punches, kicks, elbows, and knees, so it is sometimes referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs."  It also requires the use of most of your muscles.  Our classes are structured by rounds ranging from three minutes to five minutes in length with short breaks in between.

What you Need to KNow Before Your FIrst Class

Be prepared to sweat! There will be opportunities to take quick breaks and catch your breath, so don't let that scare you.  But you may want to bring your water bottle!

​Most of our Muay Thai Kickboxing classes are structured to be partner workouts. This means you will spend half of the workout time hitting pads while your partner holds and the other half of the time holding pads for your partner to hit. If you have a friend you want to workout with, sometimes that can help you stay on track to meet your goals.  However, if you are planning on coming by yourself, don't stress! We will make sure to partner you with a suitable partner or allow you to work on the heavy bag.

What to wear: Standard gym clothes are fine for kickboxing.  Please keep in mind that you will be kicking, so wear something that you will feel comfortable in.  For your first class, you are more than welcome to borrow our community hand wraps and gloves, but most people prefer to buy their own set of hand wraps.  We sell extra long and stretchy hand wraps (we've tried a lot, and we think these are some of the best!) in a variety of colors for just $10.  Once you have fallen in love with kickboxing, we prefer that you invest in your own pair of gloves, but we will always provide the pads!
